Live performance by Marika Bournaki, a 16-year-old Canadian pianist who will perform Bach and Chopin.

Tickets are free and available at www.radio2.cbc.ca. Six pianists in six Canadian cities will share and perform Bach’s “32 Goldberg Variations.” The show will be broadcast live from the Canadian Museum of Civilization by Espace musique and CBC Radio2.

Representing everything from throat singing to jazzy bluegrass instrumentals to art-pop, the musicians will react to, re-interpret, re-think and re-write the Ideas of North presented in Glenn Gould’s 1967 CBC documentary. To be broadcast on CBC Radio 2’s Canada Live on September 29.

Please join this distinguished panel of guests from North America and Europe as they present new interpretations of Gould’s music and documentary recordings and discuss Gould’s ideas in relation to contemporary technology and musical culture.

A unique encounter! Experience the genius of Glenn Gould at his keyboard. Gould’s 1955 Columbia recording of Bach’s Goldberg Variations is re-presented here, live, with the pianist’s own fingering, pedalling and original interpretation on a Yamaha Disklavier Pro concert grand piano.
