Create traditional Iroquois beadwork during a fun workshop!
Gatineau, Quebec, June 27, 2006 — Learn traditional Iroquois beadwork techniques and make your own small beaded pouch, on July 4 and 5 at the Canadian Museum of Civilization. Artist Samuel Thomas will teach you age-old techniques you will be able to use to create your own beautiful crafts.Samuel Thomas is a member of the Lower Cayuga Band of the Iroquois Nation, Six Nations of the Grand River Reserve, Canada. In the past 26 years, he has presented lectures, demonstrations, and taught workshops in museums and universities across North America. He and his mother, Lorna Thomas-Hill, are actively researching Iroquois beadwork, and are continually working on revitalizing this traditional craft to ensure its continuity.
Don’t miss out on the fun of creating your own small beaded pouch. This workshop is the first in a series of six aboriginal art workshops taking place at the Museum in July and August.
