Come to celebrate Canada Day in a big way at the Museum of Civilization!


Gatineau, Quebec, June 28, 2010 — For the 143rd birthday of Canada, the Canadian Museum of Civilization will celebrate in a big way!  Besides the fun activities for the entire family, there will be live projections of the Parliament Hill celebrations on our gigantic outdoor screen. Admission will be free all day from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.



ON THE GIANT SCREEN!
The entertainment on Parliament Hill will be shown live on the screen from noon to 1:30 p.m. and from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
There will also be a presentation of short films and multimedia productions that were submitted by Canadians in The Roots Challenge, a contest organized by Radio-Canada International, from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m.



The large outdoor screen will stay at the Museum for a few days, allowing time to present some free movies for all the family. So don’t miss seeing the following movies on June 30 and from July 2 to 4, near the Riverview Park:


Tommy Tricker and the Stamp Traveler
Wednesday, June 30 and Saturday, July 3 at 12 p.m. (English)
Friday, July 2 at 12 p.m. (French)
A young boy finds an old stamp album which magically transforms him to a size small enough to travel aboard a postage stamp. 101 minutes


Antonine Maillet – The Possibilities are Endless

Documentary portraying the life and career of Antonine Maillet, an Acadian writer who achieved fame with her 1971 novel, La Sagouine. Produced and distributed by the National Film Board of Canada. 53 minutes


The Rocket

This films tells the story about Quebec’s most famous hockey player, Maurice “The Rocket” Richard. 124 minutes

Feature documentary film about Montreal-based musical wizard Josh Dolgin. Produced and distributed by the National Film Board of Canada. 75 minutes


Seducing Doctor Lewis (La Grande séduction)

(French with English subtitles)
The story of villagers who devise a scheme to make the new doctor a local. 108 minutes


Sunday Family Programming
July 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
A series of animated shorts will be presented hourly. Produced and distributed by the National Film Board of Canada.
