Colourful Painting Workshop with Métis artist Christi Belcourt

Gatineau, Quebec, August 2, 2006 — Join Métis artist Christi Belcourt at the Canadian Museum of Civilization for a colourful painting workshop on Saturday, August 12 and Sunday, August 13, 2006.

Participants will have the opportunity to create a 15 cm x 15 cm painting, inspired by the artwork of Belcourt who will be on-hand to assist participants in the creation of their artwork.

Christi Belcourt’s paintings are uniquely Métis, distinctly Canadian, and celebrate the beauty of flowers and plants. Her body of work adds a new dimension to Canadian contemporary art by bringing Métis people and their culture to the forefront. She has received awards from the Canada Council for the Arts, the Ontario Arts Council and the Métis Nation of Ontario. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to visit the First Peoples Hall where you will see one of Belcourt’s masterpieces.
