Gatineau, Quebec, May 1, 2014 — The Canadian Museum of History is pleased to announce the appointment of Yves C.L. Gadler as its Vice-President, Development. Mr. Gadler will lead all fundraising efforts at both the Canadian Museum of History and its affiliate, the Canadian War Museum. The Museums operate under a single corporate umbrella and constitute Canada’s largest and most visited cultural institution.

Mr. Gadler has an outstanding record of achievement during his 20-year career in fundraising. He served most recently as Associate Vice-President, Principal Gifts at Western University in London, Ontario. He has also held executive-level fundraising positions at St. Michael’s Hospital Foundation, The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation, and WWF (World Wildlife Fund) Canada.

“Yves Gadler’s experience, credentials and reputation make him a very strong addition to our executive team,” said Mark O’Neill, President and CEO of the Canadian Museum of History. “I am confident that he will lead us to success in our current and future fundraising efforts, enhancing the Museums’ ability to preserve and promote Canada’s human and military history for the benefit of present and future generations.”

Mr. Gadler has worked in the Development and Advancement field since 1994, beginning as a campaign associate at McGill University. He holds a Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Education from McGill and is accredited as a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE).

The Canadian Museum of History and the Canadian War Museum engage in a variety of fundraising initiatives to support their wide-ranging research, education, collection and exhibition activities. Of special note, the Museum of History recently launched a major fundraising campaign for its Canadian History Hall. Now under development, the Hall will be the largest and most comprehensive exhibition about Canadian history ever created. At the War Museum, a current fundraising campaign will support the development — and presentation across Canada — of programming commemorating the Centenary of the First World War and the 75th anniversary of the Second World War.

The Canadian Museum of History operates the Canadian Museum of History, the Canadian War Museum and the Virtual Museum of New France. Together, these Museums function as centres for research and public information on the history of Canada. Their principal role is to enhance Canadians’ knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the events, experiences, people and objects that have shaped Canada’s history and identity.
