Gatineau, Quebec, November 14, 2006 – On Thursday, November 23, 2006, join the Grand Rapids Ballet Company in the Theatre of the Canadian Museum of Civilization for an exclusive performance created specifically for the renowned exhibition, Petra: Lost City of Stone. The special presentation brings the ancient Middle Eastern city back to life through enchanting choreography, vibrant music, colourful costumes, and projected images of Petra.

Along with Petra, audiences will also be treated to the thrilling ballet, Scheherazade. Gordon Peirce Schmidt’s Scheherazade is an abstract work inspired by the glorious Rimsky-Korsakov score. Illuminating the story of the woman who created the tales of the 1,001 Arabian Nights to save her life, Scheherazade fires the imagination, igniting audiences with its passion and excitement.

The Grand Rapids Ballet Company is a professional dance company currently in its thirty-fourth season. Artistic Director, Gordon Peirce Schmidt, created the ballet Petra in 2005.
