Archaeology is the hot topic at a public lecture and Coffee and Conversation at the Canadian Museum of Civilization

On April 22, archaeologist Dr. Laurent Tholbecq will explain why Petra is unlike other ancient cities. Through his presentation, Dr. Tholbecq will paint the most accurate picture possible of this fascinating city, which was built in the midst of the desert, became a commercial empire and the seat of one of great civilizations of the ancient world. Since 1992, Dr. Tholbecq has participated in many archaeological missions in the Near East (Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Saudi Arabia) and wrote several publications on the subject.

On April 23, join us for Coffee and Conversation, and “visit” archaeological sites at Petra and the Middle East with philately expert Norman Caron. Get a different perspective on Petra through postage stamps related to this world heritage site. Communications consultant, author, and philatelic lecturer Norman Caron has been a philatelist for more than 40 years. He has been a member of several Canadian and European philately societies, and continues to work with the Union des philatélistes de Montréal, a club founded in Montreal in 1933.
