Archaeology is the hot topic at a public lecture and Coffee and Conversation at the Canadian Museum of Civilization

Gatineau, Quebec, April 11, 2006 — The Canadian Museum of Civilization invites you to participate in two events happening this month in conjunction with the new exhibition PETRA: Lost City of Stone, which will be presented until January 2, 2007.

On April 22, archaeologist Dr. Laurent Tholbecq will explain why Petra is unlike other ancient cities. Through his presentation, Dr. Tholbecq will paint the most accurate picture possible of this fascinating city, which was built in the midst of the desert, became a commercial empire and the seat of one of great civilizations of the ancient world. Since 1992, Dr. Tholbecq has participated in many archaeological missions in the Near East (Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Saudi Arabia) and wrote several publications on the subject.
