A Scandinavian Easter!

Gatineau, Quebec, March 30, 2007 — From April 6 to 9, visit the Canadian Children’s Museum to celebrate A Scandinavian Easter! Find out how kids in Norway, Finland, Sweden, Iceland and Denmark spend their Easter holidays, and join in the fun!

Spend the day discovering Easter traditions from Scandinavia, like tasting mämmi, a yummy Finnish Easter treat, painting colourful eggs, and making an Easter chick inspired by traditional Norwegian ones. Be creative by creating a traditional Danish Easter Gækkebrev — an unsigned decorated letter written like a little rhyme. If the recipient can’t guess who sent it, he or she owes the writer an Easter egg!

On Friday, April 6, bring your youngest children to the Just for You and Your Preschooler activities series, where parents and children can participate in a special version of A Scandinavian Easter! adapted for kids aged five and under.

The Canadian Children’s Museum will be open on Easter Monday, April 9, for the holiday.
