A first in the Outaouais region:
A full day of archaeology

Gatineau, Quebec, August 4, 2010 — On August 15, 2010, as part of Quebec Archaeology Month, you are invited to spend a full day exploring the theme of archaeology to learn more about the region’s past. This marks the first time that the Outaouais region takes part in Quebec Archaeology Month, a cultural and scientific event that is held all over the province.

Throughout the day, archaeologists will reveal the ancient past hidden below the site of the Canadian Museum of Civilization, at the locks of the Rideau Canal National Historic Site of Canada, and even… under water! You can also tour the exhibition Profit and Ambition: The Canadian Fur Trade 1779–1821 and end your day with a bang by attending a lecture in an enchanting historic setting, Les Brasseurs du Temps (BDT) brewery.

The activities featured during this archaeological day in the Outaouais are made possible thanks to the collaboration between the Museum of Civilization, Parks Canada and brewery BDT.
