Gatineau, Quebec, September 2, 2015 — Dive with Jean-Michel Cousteau into a fascinating adventure and discover the spectacular underwater world of the Bahamas, Fiji and Bimini. As of September, 4, the Canadian Museum of History’s IMAX® Theatre offers a viewing of the first IMAX® documentary by the son of the legendary explorer Jacques Cousteau: Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Secret Ocean.

Using revolutionary equipment, Jean-Michel Cousteau reveals more than 30 underwater species at the base of the ocean’s chain of life, which supports us all.  “Thanks to the new technology developed specifically for us, I immediately understood that this was a revolution in underwater filming that would allow us to capture a whole new range of behaviours I had never before witnessed in my 69 years of diving”, says Jean-Michel Cousteau. “Secret Ocean takes us one step further in the discovery of the ocean in a way my father could have only imagined.”

Viewers will witness some of the most unforgettable scenes of life beneath the waves ever captured, such as Squid City, Kelp Forest Avenue, Octopus Ride, Christmas Tree Symphony, Zooplankton Spaceships and the Arrow Crabs’ Dance.

Alongside marine biologist Holly Lohuis, Jean-Michel Cousteau offers viewers a new vision of the underwater world in the hope that its beauty and diversity will inspire them to protect the ocean, source of all life on our planet.

With a run time of 40 minutes, Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Secret Ocean will be presented throughout the autumn on the dome of the Canadian Museum of History’s IMAX® Theatre. To consult the schedule of screenings and to watch the trailer, visit historymuseum.ca/imax.
