Nimidiwin: Celebrating Our Dance From Coast to Coast to Coast

Plan Your Visit

Nimidiwin, the Algonquin word meaning “to dance,” is a showcase of Indigenous culture that highlights the many unique communities of Turtle Island in a brilliant New Year’s Eve event. The show features Grammy-nominated singers Northern Cree, Juno Award-winner Susan Aglukark and Indigenous performers from various communities in Canada. Nimidiwin will take the audience on a journey from coast to coast to coast with an incredible performance of Indigenous dance and music, capped off with a fireworks display set against the iconic backdrop of Parliament Hill.

This free and family friendly event celebrates Indigenous culture through dance, drums and song, while we welcome the New Year together in harmony.

Nimidiwin is organized by the Office of the Assembly of First Nations Regional Chief for Nova Scotia and Newfoundland, which is also responsible for the culture, language, and Truth and Reconciliation portfolios. Nimidiwin is presented in partnership with the Department of Canadian Heritage and the Canadian Museum of History.
