Demystifying the wreckage of the Erebus

Plan Your Visit

A unique opportunity to hear an underwater archaeologist describe the challenges involved in his work.

Dive into Archaeology Month with Marc-André Bernier, Manager of the Parks Canada Underwater Archaeology Team. In addition to revealing the story behind the discovery of the wreck of the HMS Erebus, one of the ships on the 1845 Franklin Expedition, he will describe the challenges involved in archaeological exploration of a wreck located in frigid — or frozen — Arctic waters.

This program is organized by the Canadian Museum of History, in partnership with Parks Canada and the Royal Ontario Museum.
