Music and storytelling vary from one culture to the next, but their appeal is universal, as is their power to strengthen social bonds and bring communities together. In Nigeria, as in other parts of Africa, the art of storytelling has been used in tandem with drumming for hundreds of years, as a way to share news and to pass down legends and beliefs from generation to generation. Join in a fun, hands-on demonstration of traditional Nigerian music and stories in conjunction with Culture Days / Les journées de la culture, an annual celebration that highlights the importance of the arts and culture to communities all over Canada. For children 10 years and younger and their families.
