Express yourself in words and art on our chalk wall — a throwback to simpler school days — and personalize your own mini-chalkboard to take home.
Before students had exercise books, tablets or even laptop computers, they took notes and did homework on little slates or chalkboards — miniature versions of the teacher’s blackboard. We’re celebrating the nostalgic simplicity of this back-to-school basic by transforming part of the Canadian Children’s Museum Studio into a giant chalkboard, and inviting families with young children to express themselves. Draw something colourful on our chalkboard wall, write something silly or profound, or just pick up a piece of chalk and see where your creativity leads you! Get your inspiration from other people’s chalk art, or create something to inspire others. We’ll also have a craft station set up where you can customize your own mini-chalkboard to take home.
Jumpstart your imagination and stretch your creative-thinking skills with these workshops for ages 5 and up. Themes change regularly and are designed to foster creativity. These programs may be pre-empted by a special event.
