Go on a rare, behind-the-scenes tour of the Museum’s labs and learn about the artifacts that will be on display in the exciting new Canadian History Hall, opening on July 1.

As we prepare to unveil the new Canadian History Hall on July 1, we’re offering visitors a rare chance to visit the Museum’s labs, where experts care for artifacts from the National Collection. Learn about the careful planning, problem-solving and teamwork involved in getting objects ready for display. Meet conservation experts and learn about the delicate preservation techniques used to help prevent the deterioration of fragile organic materials such as textiles, paper and wood. Get a sneak peek into our collection storage vault containing vast numbers of canoes and totem poles, all of which contribute greatly to our research and understanding of Canadian history. Each 45-minute tour is limited to 30 participants.
