A child’s daydreams allow for ideas and images that might seem preposterous from an adult’s perspective. Such dreams inspire the imagination and feed the soul, but only rarely are they realized.
Consider, however, the unlikely fate of this Ottawa Valley boy, who grew up in a small town dreaming of big adventures in faraway jungles and did indeed see his dream finally – magically – come true.
Museum archaeologist Dr. Jean-Luc Pilon travelled through the jungles of the Yucatán, exploring ancient Maya cities and fulfilling his childhood dream! He came to appreciate some of the complexity, diversity and richness of the Maya culture.
