The Royal Canadian Navy's expansion during the Second World War brought change on shore as well as at sea. Ships were built, repaired, and maintained, while tens of thousands of new personnel, including women, enlisted, trained, and served. The rapidly growing navy also became a presence on the home front through propaganda, volunteer work, and wartime manufacturing.
