Margaret Clothilde Macdonald: Portrait Painting
From Pictou, Nova Scotia, Macdonald served in South Africa under Georgina Fane Pope and she and Pope became the first two nurses appointed to the permanent force Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps (1906). Macdonald went on to be appointed Matron-in-Chief of the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps nursing service overseas (First World War).
