Feathered head-dress, Huron, late 1800s The Hurons of L'Ancienne-Lorette, Quebec have preserved the ancient institution of chiefhood. The traditional chief's head-dress consists of a profusion of dyed turkey feathers surmounting a felt band embroidered in coloured moose hair. This style is still used today as a symbol of the chieftain's status. CMC III-H-118 |
