1951–1959

1951   Jens Skov immigrates to Canada.

1951    On November 8, Chris signs an Agricultural Labourer’s Agreement with the Department of Colonization of the CNR in Copenhagen.

1951    On December 6, Chris arrives in New York City aboard the SS Oslofjord after an 8-day trip.

1951    Chris arrives at Union Station in Toronto on December 7.

1951    Chris is sent to the “wrong” farm in Beamsville, Ontario, on December 7.

1951   On December 8, Chris returns to Toronto from Beamsville.

1951   On December 8, Chris is befriended by a Danish–American brick layer at Union Station and spends the weekend with him in Toronto.

1951   On December 10, Chris travels to Mackenzie Rutherford’s farm, near Colborne, Ontario.

Late 1952    Chris meets his first Canadian girlfriend, Florence, in Cobourg, Ontario.

1952   Chris begins working as a handyman at Card Motors in Cobourg on November 20.

1952    On December 7, Chris goes to work on Gordon Macklin’s farm, near Cobourg.

1951–1959

1953    Chris moves to Cobourg on May 10, begins working as a truck driver for Jenkins Cartage Co., and moves into a boarding house at 434 Victoria Street.

1954    On September 5, Chris moves to Toronto into a boarding house at 210 Cottingham Street.

1954   Chris begins working for Atlas Sheet Metal on September 6.

Early 1955   Chris leaves Atlas Sheet Metal to work for McEwen Sheet Metal.

1955   In March, Chris and his friend Erik Skov move into a boarding house at 65 London Street.

1955   Sigvard Bennedsen graduates from college and begins university.

1956   Sigvard marries Birgit.

1956    In November, Chris moves to 2394A Bloor Street West in Toronto and shares accommodation with his friend Eric Skov.

Late 1956    Connie meets Chris Bennedsen at her father’s shop where Chris often dropped off his laundry.

1958   Ella Bennedsen graduates from elementary school.

1959    Chris becomes a Canadian citizen.

1959   On September 7, Chris and Connie Bennedsen marry at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.

1959   Chris Bennedsen goes back to work with Atlas on November 2.
