One of a set of four side-chairs, this balloon-back, Windsor-style chair was brought to Canada, by an American family in the late nineteenth century. The chair has its original dark-green colour and floral stencils.

The silk-lined wicker bassinet was brought to Canada by a family that moved first from Washington State to Minnesota where their first child was born. From there, the Swanson family moved to Kootenay, British Columbia in 1908, because they thought Canada would be a better place to raise a family. Three Swanson children were born in Kootenay.
