Mr. Prakash is a miniature-painter, whose studio is located in New Delhi, the capital of India. He has won the National Award of India for the excellence of his work.

Miniature paintings were originally created for the courts of the Mughal empire during the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, and generally refer to small paintings that can be held in the hands. These paintings are meticulously detailed, and are characterized by delicate brushwork. Some paintings - including this example by Mr. Prakash - include precious gemstones and can only be fully appreciated with the help of a magnifying glass.

The colours are prepared by the artist himself, and are derived from both mineral and vegetable sources. The artist uses clam shells for his colour palette.
