Through all the changes Aboriginal peoples have experienced, their link to the land and its resources has remained strong. Up until the early twentieth century, many families supplemented the cash economy by continuing to harvest meat, fish, berries and roots as their ancestors had. These foods continue to be important to peoples' diets, especially in rural areas and in the North.
With the rising popularity of organic products, Aboriginal people are now exploring markets for many of their traditional foods.
