Donors are helping museum exhibitions go further — quite literally. Last year, Canadian War Museum donors responded en masse to a special appeal seeking contributions in support of the travelling exhibition program. In the last 18 months alone, 1,644 annual giving donors contributed almost $120,000 toward the program. It’s clearly an important cause for these donors, 86% of whom live outside Canada’s Capital Region.

Donations in support of travelling exhibitions go a long way, in every sense. At any given time, the Canadian Museum of History and the Canadian War Museum have upwards of 15 exhibitions on tour, including Terry Fox – Running to the Heart of Canada, which crossed the country in 2017. The popular World War Women, which debuted at the War Museum, is now on tour and ready to be enjoyed by Canadians from coast to coast.

The travelling exhibition program also takes Canada to the world. Witness – Fields of Battle Through Canadian Eyes was in Arras, France to mark the 100th anniversary of the battles of Vimy and Arras.

More exhibitions to more communities. It’s a gift to all Canadians that our donors help the Museums with every day.
