Accompanied by her husband the Duke of Edinburgh, Princess Elizabeth (the future Queen Elizabeth II) made her first visit to Canada in 1951. The month-long trip from coast to coast involved travelling over 16,000 kilometres, using various modes of transportation, and was seen as a great success.
