From March 28 to April 3, hundreds of museums worldwide will come together via Twitter for #MuseumWeek, an international celebration of arts and culture. This annual virtual event originated in France in 2014 and offers cultural organizations of all sizes an opportunity to engage with one another and virtual visitors, sharing behind-the-scenes content and little-known facts with online communities. Over seven days, seven separate themes will be explored, each with its own hashtag:

  • Monday, March 28: #secretsMW
  • Tuesday, March 29: #peopleMW
  • Wednesday, March 30: #architectureMW
  • Thursday, March 31: #heritageMW
  • Friday, April 1: #futureMW
  • Saturday, April 2: #zoomMW
  • Sunday, April 3: #loveMW

This year, the Canadian Museum of History and the Canadian War Museum will also launch their own Instagram accounts, to reach even more aficionados of Canadian history.

We’re excited to be participating in the #MuseumWeek initiative for a third year and look forward to connecting with culture lovers worldwide via social media. Follow @CanMusHistory and @CanWarMuseum on both Twitter and Instagram as we post our own photos and anecdotes, and join in on the fun!
