Jumbo, the famous pachyderm that was a star attraction in P. T. Barnum’s circus, was killed outside St. Thomas, Ontario by a train on September 15, 1885. This explains why this label appeared on an 1897 cigar box made by local manufacturer B. F. Honsinger.
