The Museum has just opened its newest special exhibition, Gold Rush! – El Dorado in British Columbia, which relives the tumultuous days of gold’s discovery in British Columbia’s Fraser Canyon in the 19th century. In the video below, Dr. John Willis, the Museum’s Curator of Economic History, explains the reasons behind the quest for this precious metal and what miners and entrepreneurs of various social and ethnic origins discovered when they arrived in the region.

Gold Rush! – El Dorado in British Columbia is on display until January 15, 2017. The exhibition is organized by the Royal BC Museum, in collaboration with the Canadian Museum of History.
