Chest belonging to George-Étienne Cartier

This chest was used by George-Étienne Cartier when he travelled to London in December 1866 as part of the delegation sent to prepare for the passage of the British North America Act by the British Parliament. The resulting London Conference was the home stretch before Queen Victoria gave royal assent to Canadian Confederation. The chest is among the 1,500 artifacts displayed in the new Canadian History Hall, opening July 1, 2017.
