At 4 p.m. on September 6, 1952, the CBC launched its television service on CBFT, in Montréal, presenting the movie Aladdin and His Lamp, followed by a cartoon, a film in French, a news report and a bilingual variety show. Two days later, CBC Television began broadcasting in Toronto.
